It’s been how long?

Hi Friends!

I know I have been MIA for quite some time. I hope everyone had a very nice holiday season and a happy new year. Is it really 2013? I feel like yesterday it was 1995 and I was in 5th grade, ha. Yes, I still feel like I am 11.

Anyway – I never realized how time it took to keep up with a Blog. I work 45-50 hours a week at my “big girl job”, teach 3 hours of Zumba a week, and that truly does not leave much time left over. This summer, I found myself neglecting Zumba routine choreography, which resulted in some unhappy Zumba classes since my playlist was barely changing. I realized real quick that I had to take a step back from blogging, and any other free time I had oustide of work went to coming up with a solid 1-2 routines each week, to keep my class on their toes. So, that’s where I have been. Either working my day job as a very exciting Accountant (ha), or outside of my teaching 3 Zumba classes per week, I have been choreographing or spending time with Nick and my friends. I do have a life, I promise, ha ha.

I also started to get frustrated with how long a blog post started to take. Editing pictures was fun at first, but now not so much. I have to re-size every picture I take, and because I use a Mac, I don’t have access to the Windows Live Writer program that all you Windows bloggers rave about. The way my pictures insert into posts is weird, and each and every single one has to be re-sized to look right on the blog. So pictures alone took what felt like hours (not really, but you get it). It became overwhelming. I also wasn’t sure what direction I wanted the blog to take, so I just needed to step back from it all. Who cares what I did this weekend? Probably no one, except for my mom who loves catching up through my blog, ha ha.

Either way, my goal for 2013 is to pop in every now and then, write some posts, and to figure out how to shorten this picture editing process. Anyone have ideas for a Mac? Please share!

I also want my blog to be a place my local Zumba students come to and read updates, see pictures of our classes, and see my crazy health antics. I am still obsessed with teaching it if you can’t tell :) I have had to drop a class, so I am down to 3 per week, which I am finding is the perfect amount. I have time to come up with new routines, and I have the energy to really push it in my classes and give the class a great work out!

So happy to hear you back on the blog again! It is time consuming but so worth it! I’ll be looking for your posts to pop up now and then. Also I blog on a mac and currently upload my pictures to flickr and use the html code from there. Not the best method but it’s pretty quick and not nearly as time consuming!

I like the idea of putting up videos/pictures of class on the blog. Especially when I’m in them, I can show friends and family to help them understand what makes dancing so much fun.

It is so time consuming! I actually love wordpress–I’ve never had an issue with putting pictures in? I use a mac, and I even tried Windows Live writer & hated it. Just my two cents ;)

Totally feel you on how blogging can take over your life if you let it. As long as you don’t delete twitter so we can share our love for Sunday wine and pizza, we’ll be ok. :) haha! Glad you are getting the feel for a routine!
